About the author: In writing and illustrating KATY CARES FOR THE ANIMALS, Katherine
Bailey drew on much that is familiar to her from living on farms in New Hampshire and Vermont. She graduated with a degree
in elementary education from Castleton State College, and taught reading in Vermont schools. Teaching and literacy are dear
to her heart, and this children's book reflects her experience.
